Spahir Whorf thesis proclaims that language determines the way we think and therefore how we regard the world. Therefore language acts as a pair of rose-tinted spectacles with those in power determining what aspects of the world are magnified by language and what should be masked and concealed. Euphemisms such as 'colateral damage' present loveless acts of intense selfishness a justifiable way and therefore prevent mass outrage. Because I acknoledge this use of language to camoflage the actions of politicians am I one of the enlightened ones or are we all aware of these attrocities but live in 'ignorance' to protect us from making action? Am I worse of a person because I acknoledge injustice but do nothing to prevent it? Should I spend the limited years I have on this planet working, accumalating wealth and supporting the greed and selfishness that is capitalism? Is there any other option?
