im reading a compilation of memoirs collected regarding the Vietnam War and it's instilled such a feeling of frustration and angst in me particularly as I was in the country this year and feelings regarding the conflict are still as passionate as they were 40 years ago.

Recently more than ever Ive been thinking about war and the awful fact that it is always inevitable. I must admit to adopting an idealist stance, war, violence, retaliation can all be avoided, violence is wrong, there is always another way, there must be. But unfortunately things arent so black and white and i must be aware of this. Conflict involves so many complexities and hidden agendas that wieve in and out of each other that I cant be a namby pamby left wing pacifist. Smoetimes something must be done.

As for the vietnam/america conflict one must acknoledge the political fear and ignorance of the public at the time, they didnt know who or what to believe. We can never really be sure of the truth, only what we perceive to be truthful outlets of information. as long as the actions we make are fuelled by honesty and a sincerity that they are sound, one cannot question another's motives. we just have to be aware.
