my goodness, those of you not familliar with the letters of abelard and heloise must read them, its so amazing that the whole publication was written in the 11th century and therefore their whole relationship can be discovered by us today.

were they really in love? can it just be used as an example of the patriarchal restrictions on women, still evident in today's society? did abelard really love heloise or was it just a desire to assert his power and influence over another? lust? the fact that he let their relationship, whether you deem it love or not, contaminated the rest of his life causing him to neglect his studies and focus as a respected scholar, causing him to be known as a fool in love with the love sonnets he'd written regarding heloise to be heard by all, does this translate as love? infactuation? are the two the same? what is love? does it have to be reciprocated? will we all find love? once? twice? three times a....
